ABSTRACT:
The extensive use of hazardous chemicals in industries causes chemical accidents such as leakage of liquefied ammonia. Due to hazardous properties it affects workers, public & environment also. In view of this, the accurate prediction of accident risk is essential in order to reduce the degree of damage. The off-site emergency plan plays an important role in major hazard control system. In this paper, a typical scenario illustrating the dispersion model of liquefied ammonia has been estimated by ALOHA simulation software. Which shows toxic area of vapour cloud, vapour cloud explosion threat zone. The enlarged form of this model diagram has been outlined on the area map of the study area for contingency planning as a guide line to the authorities for emergency planning.
