ABSTRACT:
The behavior of rehabilitated reinforced concrete columns by various techniques under axial load has been extensively studied in the past by various researchers. However most of the examined specimens that were considered were small scale specimens and of were of same height. This paper presents an experimental study of axially loaded columns of the different cross sections namely square and circular with equal areas of cross section and steel but with different slenderness ratios. The behavior of the columns such as P ultimate Vs L/D ratios, load Vs deflection and axial stress Vs axial strain have been studied for the columns, rehabilitated with Carbon and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Sheet wrapping. From the present study it may be seen that FRP wrapping provided excellent confining effect with increased axial load carrying capacities and energy absorption values.
