ABSTRACT:
The conventional fuel cost is increasing day by day as the population and living standards are increasing. Demand has been also increased because of the presence of advanced technology present in market such as high power generators, heavy diesel and petrol vehicles etc. Generally in vehicles and generators we use either petrol or diesel which is getting exhausted and costly day by day. In addition they are the main reasons for environmental air pollution. So, there is a need of fuel which is cheaper as well as eco-friendly in nature as compared to the conventional fuels like petrol and diesel. Biogas is a bio-fuel having high energy content, better mixing capacity and clean combustion in nature. Therefore, it could be considered as a good alternate fuel in place of petroleum fuels. In the following paper, cost analysis has been done on the basis of data recorded for diesel fuel consumption on different flow rates of biogas at different brake powers of the diesel engine. Experiment has been performed by using purified biogas (bio-methane: 98% pure methane) stored at high pressure cylinder. The cost of gas and the cost of diesel has been analyzed at different flow rates of biogas.
