ABSTRACT:
The number of flyovers is growing immensely in the city of Pune as a measure to counteract traffic, and in order to implement this; the existing RBT system is suffering, with the removal of the RBT lanes. Hence, in order to find the more optimum solution, between the RBT system and creation of a flyover, for the growing traffic in the city of Pune, a road with heavy traffic and a variety of users was chosen and various surveys were conducted to identify the problems. Conducting a site visit, studying the geometric design, questioning the users, attaining traffic and vehicular data from various government offices, the current problems and the future traffic expectations were understood. Based on this data, the optimum solution from the two choices was analyzed and its feasibility considered.
