ABSTRACT:
In communication networks, surveys show that the spectrum is not fully utilized i.e., some part of the spectrum is harness by the primary licensed user and most it is unused. Cognitive Radio Networks are the solution for the spectrum shortage and can smartly help in Sensing Spectrum free channels. In Cognitive Radio Networks, there are number of Spectrum Sensing techniques. Energy Detection is the most effective and better in terms of Accuracy and Complexity. Further, in Energy Detection there are various techniques like Discrete and Cooperative Energy Detection. Spectrum Sensing depends upon the parameters like Probability of False alarm, Sensing time and Simple threshold. On the contrary of these parameters various Energy detection techniques are compared and on the basis of better results Modified Threshold Energy detection algorithm for Cognitive Radio networks is proposed.
